Please make sure your seat is in an upright position. It’s almost time for takeoff.
It’s go time for Tim.
There’s a new flagship Apple Store in West Lake, China.
Apple now has 21 retail stores in China. And big plans to continue growing.
~There are now 453 Apple Retail Stores. In 16 countries. With over 120 million visitors in the last quarter alone.
Apple TV offers programming from the best content providers. Including a favorite, HBO.
Introducing HBO NOW. It’s HBO on Apple TV without a cable or satellite subscription.
Coming this April, HBO NOW will be available exclusively in the U.S. on Apple TV and the App Store.
Richard Plepler, CEO of HBO, talks about Apple TV’s newest addition — HBO NOW.
~Over 25 million people use Apple TV for movies, TV shows, music, and more.
It’s never been easier to binge-watch your favorite shows.
~It’s just the beginning of many changes coming to the world of television.
~“iPhone not only created a category, it’s the smartphone by which all others are measured.”
– Tim Cook
iPhone is growing at nearly twice the rate of the rest of the smartphone market.
~iPhone launched in June 2007. Over 700 million have been sold since then. And last quarter, it was the #1 selling smartphone in the world. ~iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus have a 99% customer satisfaction rate. Customers simply ❤️❤️ them.
~“Apple Pay is forever changing the way we pay for things.”
– Tim Cook
Tim turns the audience’s attention to iPhone.
~Apple Pay works with over 2500 banks. And all 10 of your fingers.
Apple Pay is being accepted at nearly 700,000 locations. With more locations and apps every day.
~No more uncrumpling dollar bills. There are now hundreds of thousands of vending machines accepting Apple Pay, including more than 40,000 Coca-Cola vending machines. ~Every major car brand is committed to delivering CarPlay. ~HomeKit is changing how people control the devices in their homes. ~One of the most important areas iPhone is having an impact on is personal health.
Over 900 incredible apps created with HealthKit are helping people track and manage their health.
~For all the amazing breakthroughs medical researchers have made, they still face big challenges.
~Finding volunteers for medical studies has always been tough. And low participation can make understanding a disease more difficult. ~Another challenge is subjective data, like when patients rate their pain on a scale from 1 to 10. ~Sometimes researchers see patients only once a quarter, making it difficult to get a complete picture of their health. ~Also, data often travels only one way — from participant to researcher. That’s a missed opportunity for patients to learn more about their own health.
The technology of iPhone makes it an extraordinary medical research tool.
Introducing ResearchKit. A software framework designed to benefit medical research.
Jeff Williams talks about the importance of medical research.
~With ResearchKit, iPhone and HealthKit become amazing research tools. ~Now researchers can easily create apps that will change the way they work.
Over the past year, talented researchers have used ResearchKit to build apps aimed at serious diseases.
~The University of Rochester and Sage Bionetworks created mPower, an app using ResearchKit to conduct Parkinson’s disease research.
Signing up for studies and providing consent is seamless with the mPower app.
Now it’s simple for Parkinson’s patients to take tests and perform tasks from researchers.
Parkinson’s patients can record their symptoms with iPhone just by saying “ahhhh.”
Jeff Williams explains how ResearchKit and HealthKit work hand in hand.
The first apps made with ResearchKit target Parkinson’s, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, asthma, and breast cancer.
~You decide whether to participate. You decide how your data is shared. You can see the data you’re sharing. ~Jeff Williams introduces a film about the work already being done with ResearchKit.
Research is the key to understanding disease. And research is what gets to a cure.
“ResearchKit is a framework that enables medical researchers to more easily design the apps they’re going to use for clinical studies.”
– Stephen Friend, MD, PhD, Apple
“To think that this device that you use to check your mail can be used to battle disease is simply amazing.”
– Mike O’Reilly, MD, Apple
ResearchKit puts people at the center of research. And it gives them the insights and tools to live healthier lives.
~ResearchKit will be available next month. And it’s important for everyone to have access — so it will be open source.
The first five apps built with ResearchKit are available on the App Store today.
The Mac lineup is stronger than ever.
In fact, Mac has been outpacing the PC industry for 10 years.
Mac notebook sales have grown 21% over the last year, while total industry sales have fallen.
Mac is everywhere you look, from the classroom to the living room to the boardroom.

At only 2 pounds, this is the lightest MacBook ever.
The new MacBook is 24% thinner than the 11-inch MacBook Air.
MacBook has an all-new, full-size keyboard that’s been reengineered from the ground up.
A new butterfly mechanism makes each key more stable, more precise, and 40% thinner.
Each key is four times more stable and has a 17% larger surface area.
Phil goes into detail about the new MacBook.
There’s an LED under every key, so the entire keyboard has a uniform glow.
MacBook looks just as beautiful in the dark as it does in the light.
MacBook has a gorgeous 12-inch Retina display.
It packs over 3 million pixels into the thinnest Mac Retina display yet.
~Every single pixel has been reengineered to let more light through. So the Retina display uses 30% less energy to produce the same brightness as other Mac Retina displays.
MacBook has a new, pressure-sensitive Force Touch trackpad.
The Force Touch trackpad has force sensors that detect how much pressure you apply on its surface.
~The Taptic Engine produces tactile feedback, so you don’t just see what’s happening on the screen — you feel it, too. ~You can adjust the sensitivity of the trackpad to decide how much pressure it takes to click. You can click anywhere. And clicks are quieter.
The Force Touch trackpad can tell the difference between a light tap and a deep press.
~Force clicks add new shortcuts to apps you use every day. All by just pressing down on the trackpad after you click.
Force click a word to bring up its Wikipedia entry.
Force click an address to bring up its location on a map.
The harder you press on the trackpad, the faster you can fast-forward through a Quicktime movie.
They've never seen a Mac like this before.
The logic board is 67% smaller than the one in the 11-inch MacBook Air.
~The Intel Core M processor runs on just 5 watts.
A new, custom-shaped battery maximizes every millimeter of space.
The enclosure and the terraced, contoured battery were designed together for the perfect fit.
MacBook gets all-day battery life.
MacBook was designed for a wireless world.
The latest wireless technologies, along with Apple software and services, keep you connected to everything. Yet tethered to nothing.
USB-C gives you five ports in one.
This new connectivity standard gives you power, USB data transfer, DisplayPort, HDMI, and VGA capabilities.
Another innovation in MacBook was minimizing its impact on the environment.
The new MacBook is the world’s most energy-efficient notebook.
~Phil plays a film detailing the design and features of the new MacBook. ~“The new MacBook is the result of a collective obsession to simplify its essential components and create the most efficient design possible.”
– Jony Ive
The full-size keyboard was reengineered from corner to corner.
It’s remarkably thin, yet comfortable to use.
Engineering the thinnest Retina display ever on a Mac meant refining it at every level.
MacBook introduces a new way to build a battery. The only way to get all-day battery life in such a compact space.
Efficient engineering dramatically reduced the size of the logic board and eliminated the need for a fan.
So MacBook operates in complete silence.
And that’s the new MacBook.
~"We set a new standard for portability while enhancing its fundamental components, to deliver what we believe is the best MacBook yet."
– Jony Ive
The most advanced Mac notebook ever starts at $1299.
~A second configuration for $1599 features the 12-inch Retina display, 1.2GHz Intel Core M, Intel HD Graphics 5300, 8GB memory, and 512GB of flash storage.
