Uber Joins Hands With Safetipin

Uber, the California based mobile-app transportation network which had been in news for a while now due to allegation surrounding  the driver of Uber cab raping a woman in New Delhi and the Google acquired company was banned in New Delhi, Hyderabad and Mumbai but it then introduced the Panic Button to strengthen its firm in India and also gain the trust of the customers. Uber has now gone a step forward and has joined hands with SafetiPin which is a map based mobile safety app that tags safety scores to locations on a map in a city. The initiative will be first piloted in India starting on February 25 in New Delhi where it will be tested for 5 months and then service will be carry forwarded in international markets particularly in countries like Kenya and Columbia. Uber aims to cover approximately 20,000 Kms of their city roads and areas.

SafetiPin's collaboration with Uber will advance security measures for its cab service by allocating the partner drivers and their convoys with SafetiPin's safety auditors, ensuring that passenger safety is maintained. The partner drivers will be trained for this 5 month program at night. Uber hopes to gain momentum in India by planning to go beyond this partnership with SafetiPin and hopes to work with the city government and planners to implement safety measures required to make a particular areas safe and re-assess the areas where improvement projects had been carried out, to measure impact against the original safety score.

SafetiPin is available for free download on Android Play Store as well as on the iOS App Store.
