Uber introduces 'Panic Button' for India

The San Francisco based company, Uber has been under a lot of trouble lately after the highly publicized case of a woman been raped in one of Uber's cabs in New Delhi took place. It was banned in Delhi, Hyderabad and now Mumbai might also put up a ban on it's services. It also failed to submit detailed information about it's cabs and drivers to the government authorities.  It has also failed to follow rules and regulations in many countries outside India. Certainly not expected from a company worth $40 billion.

To strengthen it's on-road security, it will be introducing a 'Panic Button' for the Indian users in it's app which will allow riders to notify the police in case of an emergency. Also, a local team will be set up to respond to riders and a notification will be received when the panic button is pressed.
It does not support the idea of a physical button in cabs as suggested by users because it is susceptible to wear and tear and also because it does not own the taxis and it is mainly the  driver's decision to put them up.
[post_ad] Another feature called the 'Safety Net' is going to be introduced wherein the user can share their location and trip details with as many as five people.

The update is expected to release in this week. Uber is also looking into new ways to screen it's employees and introducing new security features to win back the trust of people.
