Google Acquires Odysee : A Private Photo Sharing And Backup App!

Don't we all want our photos to be shared privately without anyone knowing but just us knowing the fact that even clouds can be hacked? Google has made it easier for us. Google has acquired a startup company called Odysee, an app that lets user backup and share its photos from their home computer instead of cloud. The app is currently available on Android and iOS.
As per the terms of procurement, the Odysee team will now join Google+ team and the app will shut down from Feb 23. The good thing is that it has an API that lets third party apps be integrated with itself so as to use the apps' feature.

As we know that Google is not new to acquiring startups and that it is on a shopping spree this month as it has already acquired 2 startups including Odysee. Odysee was developed by Nimbuz Inc, which was co-founded by Shiva Jalagi and Raghavan Menon. The feature that distinguishes Odysee from other photo sharing apps is that it stores the pics on the home computer rather than a public cloud making it entirely safe than other apps and it will be interesting to see what changes Google makes to this app and pitch it in competition of Instagram, Flickr etc.
[post_ad] It is not known currently that how many users have downloaded Odysee but the app had managed to raise around $760K from investors Ed Han who is an entrepreneur and Alex Subhat who is the CEO of Goji Food Solutions which is a tech company
Here is the statement from its website as shown below :
" We are excited to share that the Odysee Platform Team will be joining the Google+ Team.
Odysee’s vision was to be the easiest way for everyone to capture unlimited memories and access them everywhere. We are very excited to join Google where we’ll continue to focus on building amazing products that people love.
Our deepest thanks to every one of our users. To help you with the transition, the Odysee service will continue till Feb 23rd and soon after that all your photos and videos will be available as a downloadable archive."
