As technology is taking new leaps everyday, we are getting familiar with the 4K displays, thanks to Smartphones and Smart TV's. Qualcomm, the American giant has revealed a streaming stick which appears to be rival of Google's Chromecast.
The device is powered by the company's own Snapdragon 800 processor which is used in high end smartphones. The stick revealed by Qualcomm is just a reference design so that other manufacturers could make it using the Qualcomm's design of the stick and they can also opt for its Snapdragon 810 processor to boost its power. The prototype which was released by Qualcomm runs on a full version of the Android OS and can also run on Android TV. The good thing is that it can support video playback up to 4K resolution so YouTube as well as the streaming service Netflix both can be viewed in best possible quality.
The most surprising feature about this stick is that along with Wi-Fi, the stick can support 4G using 5GHz of frequencies which will help to create a localized version of LTE so that devices can get their content over the air from the 4G broadcasts. This device is the perfect competitor to Google's Chromecast as the price is expected to be around £30 and if the manufacturers start the production as soon as possible, then it can perform excellently in markets and could be a cheap alternative to get 4K content.
